April 2016 — Graphene Flagship moves from ramp-up into the first Core project under Horizon 2020. That is a contract phase change, not a product launch. [[timeline/2013]]
Science
- Ruffieux, Cai, et al., Nature 531, 489 (2016). Bottom-up zigzag-edge graphene nanoribbons on a surface; STS shows edge-localized states. Atomically precise edges in UHV, not a reel of ribbon.
- Goykhman et al., Nano Lett. 16, 3005 (2016). On-chip silicon–graphene plasmonic Schottky PD; Flagship copy quotes 0.37 A/W at 1.55 µm with avalanche gain. Competes with SiGe in that demo, not a transceiver SKU.
- Kawai et al., Science 351, 957 (2016). Graphene nanoribbons dragged on gold — superlubricity at 2–200 pN for 5–50 nm ribbons.
