Evidence: Well-supported for the core experiments. Interpretations (“relativistic electrons in a pencil mark”) are pedagogy, not extra data.
Documented science
- Novoselov, Geim, Morozov, Jiang, Katsnelson, Grigorieva, Dubonos, Firsov, Nature 438, 197 (2005) — two-dimensional gas of massless Dirac fermions in graphene.
- Zhang, Tan, Stormer, Kim, Nature 438, 201 (2005) — experimental observation of the quantum Hall effect and Berry’s phase in graphene.
Together with 2004, these papers are why Wallace’s 1947 bands (1947) stop being a graphite approximation and become a measured monolayer spectrum.
Claims in the air
Popular write-ups already say graphene will transform electronics. The measurements are magnetotransport on small cleaved flakes. No foundry process exists.
